in every fishing report.
The
Lake Okeechobee Florida bass fishing has started out great for
the first week of May. The excellent trophy bass fishing of April seemed to be
carrying over into May. However, heavy windy conditions and a
unusually rare "cold front" which has never hit us during
this time of the year devastated the bass fishing. The gale force
winds that hit Lake Okeechobee besides stirring up the bottom
also shut down the fish.

Lake Okeechobee
bass fishing anglers Doug and Bridgette Mason (Corinth, MS - ph:
662-286-5699) caught and released
about 25 bass that included a 5 1/2 lb. and 5 lb'er bass during
3 days of wild shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on May 27 - 29, 2002.
Poor weather conditions slowed down the fishing. Bass were caught
in Harney Pond Canal and the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

and 2 sons Rich and Mike caught
and released about 24 bass that included a 5 1/2 lb. and 5 1/4
lb'er during 3 days of wild shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on May
24 - 26, 2002. Poor weather conditions slowed down the fishing.
Bass were caught in Harney Pond Canal and the North Shore area
of Lake Okeechobee.

bass fishing women anglers Anita Bowers (Stapleton, AL - e-mail:
ABo3224273@aol.com) and her girl friend Kaiya Carman (Mobile,
AL) caught and released about
15 bass up to 4 lbs during 2 days of wild shiner fishing with
Ron's Guide Service on May 24 & 25, 2002. Poor weather and
windy conditions slowed down the fishing. Bass were caught in
Harney Pond Canal and the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

bass fishing angler Paul Stabile
(Rapid City, SD - ph: 605-390-2877) caught and released 6 bass
up to 5 1/4 lbs during a half day of wild shiner fishing with
Cap'n Ron on May 23, 2002. Poor weather and windy conditions slowed
down the fishing. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of
Lake Okeechobee.

bass fishing honeymoon couple Travis and Corney Casteel (Maryville,
MO - e-mail: tcasteel@asde.net) caught
and released about 30 bass that included a 6 lb'er bass during
3 days of wild shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on May 20 - 22, 2002.
Poor weather conditions slowed down the fishing. Corney caught
and released the 6 lb'er. Bass were caught in Harney Pond Canal
and the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

19, 2002
Lake Okeechobee
bass fishing anglers Paul Allen and his son Cody (Inkom, ID -
e-mail: alcrane@dcdi.net) caught
and released 11 bass that included a 6 1/2 lb. bass during a half
day morning of wild shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on May 19, 2002.
Paul caught the 6 1/2 lb'er. All bass were caught in the North
Shore area of Lake Okeechobee. Paul and his son both bagged a
wild sow during a combined wild boar hunt during the afternoon.

bass fishing anglers John Tarantino
and his brother Mike (Palm Harbor, FL - e-mail: gjtarantino@mybluelight.com)
caught and released 8 bass up to 4 lbs during 2 half days of wild
shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on May 11 & 12, 2002. Bass were
caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

(Harrisburg, PA - ph: 717-657-3604) and Dave Nye (Dillisbury,
PA - ph: 717-432-3369) caught and released about 10 bass up to
4 lbs during 2 half day mornings of wild shiner fishing with Cap'n
Ron on May 10 & 11, 2002. Bass were caught in the North Shore
area of Lake Okeechobee.

caught and released 17 bass that included a 7 lb., 6 1/2 lb. and
two 6 lb'ers during 2 half day mornings of wild shiner fishing
with Cap'n Ron on May 7 & 8, 2002. Bass were caught in the
North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

caught and released 8 bass up to 4 lbs during a half day of wild
shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on the morning of May 4, 2002. Linda
caught a 10 lb. channel catfish. Bass and catfish were caught
in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.
