March
2002
Florida

used by guides to catch them, the areas of Lake Okeechobee that
produced the best bass fishing action, and other bass fishing

reports. To
ensure validity the angler's name
address, city, state, phone number, e-mail address, date and year
the party fished is also included in every fishing report.
The
Lake Okeechobee bass fishing has been poor during most of the
month of March. Cold fronts and a severe hard frost during the
begining of the month altered the biological urges of bass to
spawn and search for food. The majority of anglers we took out
guide fishing experienced poor results due to the unusual cold
and windy weather. These bleak fishing conditions have however
turned around drastically during the third week of March. In fact
a

trophy bass from 6 - 7 1/2 lbs were boated by me and my guides
IN
JUST 5 DAYS
(March
18 - 22)!
Five other trophy bass from 6 to 8 1/2 lbs were landed from
March 25th. to the 30th.
That's
16 trophy bass caught in a span of only 13 days!

Lake Okeechobee

and released 10 bass that included a 6 1/2 lb'er during 2 half
days of wild shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on March 29 & 30,
2002. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

and released 14 bass that included a 7 lb. and 5 lb. bass during
2 half days of wild shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on March 28
& 29, 2002. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake
Okeechobee.

caught and released 10 bass that included
a 8 lb'er. Sam also landed
a 24
lb. channel catfish during
1 day of wild shiner fishing with Ron's Guide Service on March
25, 2002. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.

and released 12
bass that included a 6 1/2 lb., 6 lb., two 5 1/2 lb'ers, 5 lb'er,
two 4 1/2 lb'ers during
2 half days of wild shiner fishing with Cap'n Ron on March 21
& 22, 2002. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake
Okeechobee.
This has been Tracy's second fishing trip with Cap'n Ron. Click

and released 40 bass that included a 7 1/2 lb., 7 1/4 lb., 7 lb., two
6 1/4 lb., 6 lb. and five bass in the 5 - 5 1/2 lb. range during 3 days of wild shiner fishing
with with Cap'n Ron on March 18 - 20, 2002. Bass were caught in
the North Shore area of Lake Okeechobee.
Almost broke my record of
landing six trophy bass in a 3 day fishing package I set on April

Lake Okeechobee
bass fishing anglers Joe and Lorie Torrillo (Kansas City,MO, -
ph: 816-444-8918 caught and
released about 10
bass up to 3 lbs during
2 half days of wild shiner fishing with with Ron's Guide Service
on March 10 & 11, 2002. Bass were caught in the North Shore
area of Lake Okeechobee.

OKEECHOBEE BASS FISHING REPORT:
MARCH
7 - 9, 2002
Lake Okeechobee
bass fishing anglers Sam and Loraine Hoffman (Fredrick, MD, -
e-mail: hoffmanhandyman@cs.com) caught
and released only 11
bass up to 6 lbs during
3 days of wild shiner fishing with with Cap'n Ron on March 7 -
9, 2002. Fishing was poor due to the fact that we fished after
a severe cold front. Lorraine caught the 6 lb'er while drift fishing
a wild shiner. Bass were caught in the North Shore area of Lake
Okeechobee.
This was their second fishing
trip with Cap'n Ron. On their first trip (Oct. 31, Nov. 1 &
2, 1999) Sam caught a 8 lb. and 6 1/2 lb. bass. Lorraine landed
